The site is located in Johanneshov, south of central Stockholm, within the

‘Globenomrädet’ (The Globe area), Stockholm City’s main area for events.

In the area are several stadiums: Nya Söderstadion (officially Tele2 Arena), Globen (Avicii Arena), and Hovet.

Nya Söderstadion is a modern stadium hosting Allsvenskan games for Hammarby IF and Djurgärdens IF, as well as large concerts, with a capacity of 31,000 for football and up to 40,000 for concerts.

Globen, the worlds largest spherical building until 2023, serves as a multi-arena for ice hockey and concerts, accommodating up to 18,000 attendees.

Hovet, primarily an ice hockey arena with an 8,000-seat capacity, is set to be demolished in 2025 to make way for housing.

The area holds cultural significance for Stockholm’s sports enthusiasts, especially from Södermalm and southern suburbs, as Hammarby IF’s home for over 60 years. Johanneshovs IP, inaugurated in 1928 as a multi-purpose venue for track and fields, bandy, and ice skating, was renovated into Söderstadion in 1967 to focus on football. Söderstadion remained a key part of Stockholm’s sports history until its demolition in 2015.
