Consciously or subconsciously we define everything in the world with labels, so what defines the label “LOST”? Do “LOST” people make a site or is the site itself “LOST”? From the outside point of view, many people would suspect this to be a “LOST” site with it’s visible deterioration and overrun demeanor, but many people still love to use this site for many kinds of activities, whether they’re safe or not. In the past 20 years this site has become “LOST” with the invention of new technologies such as the Georgia Dome or Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, just a short half mile away. Although it’s once purpose is now gone, there are still a multitude of ways this site can bring life back to it’s community and the city around it. Currently it’s ownership lies under the nearby Atlanta University Center which is home to colleges such as Morris Brown, Clark Atlanta University and Morehouse College of Medicine, who hope to one day restore it. Until then, this site sits “LOST” to some but not all. Our team has worked to bridge that gap between providing a safer place for existing uses, while creating new solutions to the neighborhoods, most challenging problems.
