Funtastic High Street

High streets once played a crucial role as hubs of economic growth across the United Kingdom. However, their significance has diminished with the rapid rise of shopping centers and malls. These streets, which once fostered opportunities for local businesses to thrive, are now becoming areas of decline, making it a lost site. Many high streets are characterized by vacant shops, higher crime rates, and a lack of appeal for nearby communities, who should ideally benefit from easy access to essential services. Although the decline of high streets is a nationwide phenomenon, this project focuses on South Norwood High Street in Croydon. Its strategic location, close to a station with direct access to the city center, and its diverse community present unique opportunities for revitalization.
