Alexanderplatz doesn ́t function as an urban public space as we imagine it. It lacks quality of stay and possibilities to rest. The traditional image of a stony and dense Mediterranean square doesn’t translate well in places like this because the buildings don ́t contribute to the urban live but pull people inside, away from the square.
