The lost site is a publicly accessible water meadow in northwest Monmouth, West of river Monnow. The site is located in a high-risk flood zone as shown in the section and plan.
The Fields are significantly lower than the rest of Monmouth’s urban fabric, the difference being up to 30 meters at points. Not only does the site level change dramatically, but the site character changes rapidly too. From the town’s urban centre, through abandoned subterranean catacombs to green countryside water meadows within a span of 10 meters. Vauxhall fields have a rich history and are important to the locals, further introduced.
