Windom Bowl

Kitchener / Canada /
Team: Jennifer Wan / Ryan De Jong /

Our site is a drainage bulb located in a cul-de-sac of a suburban neighbourhood in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. There are several spaces like it throughout the surrounding area. Drainage bulbs can be considered lost sites, as many are neglected or simply filled with lawns, missing opportunities for improved social, ecological and hydrological function. The design of this project can applied to other drainage bulbs in the area, increasing neighborhoods’ sense of community and environmental value throughout Kitchener.

Currently, the drainage bulb on Windom Road is empty and filled with mulch. It is across from Howard Robertson Public school, and the street is regularly populated with parents waiting to pick up their children.
