Urbanisation by definition is an increase in the proportion of people living in urban areas. This process leads to more built-up areas in the town centre when people move closer for better employability and convenience.
Petersfield like many other places also developed to build more residential houses. This open field was suggested by the local residents during user interviews. It was once part of the masterplanning under Tesco’s ownership but they later decided not to go ahead. Since then, this field is being left behind, mainly used as a footpath for the supermarket.
